Cargo ship grounded on avalanche in Corinth Canal
The Corinth Canal that separates the Peloponnese from the Greek mainland had to be closed after being hit by a landslide in the morning of Nov 13, 2020. The avalanche reduced the draft in the canal, with the result that the 'Nemesis', enroute from Thira to Drepano, ran aground and blocked the fairway. In the afternoon, work was on to pull the ship free which, however, remained blocked until Nov 15. Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=248&v=2Y0FolhiKeY&feature=emb_title
