The Philippines flagged passenger m/v 'Kamilla' caught fire off Navotas City on Sep 2, 2024, after it was struck by the landing craft LCT 'GT Express' amid rains brought by the tropical sorm Enteng at Navotas Anchorage Area located at A. Santiago St., Barangay Sipac-AlmacenThe 'GT Express' was swept away by strong currents and hit the training ship, which was anchored at 7:28 a.m. The PCG tried to send a floating asset to rescue the crew but failed to do so due to strong current and unfavorable weather conditions. At around 9:19 a.mn. the 'Kamilla' reported a fire onboard. . The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) raised the incident to a first alarm at 9:28 a.m. It remained on standby since firefighting and rescue was not possible due to strong winds and high waves. At around 10:50 a.m. the 'Kamilla'’s owner informed the Coastguard that the crew already abandoned the vessel. Eight minutes later, MTUG Phil Leyte reported that they initially rescued 17 of the 18 crew members. and brought them to the CGSS Navotas at around 11:15 a.m. The BFP Navotas Medical Team provided medical assistance to the rescued sailors. The last crew member was rescued at Barangay Sipac-Almacen and taken to the Navotas City Hospital for medical treatment. Meanwhile, the PCG deployed the BRP 'Suluan (MRRV-4406)' to conduct firefighting and advised the master to file a marine protest at the Coast Guard Station (CGS) Manila. Aside from this, four more maritime incidents were reported in Navotas amid the onslaught of Tropical Storm Enteng. The barge 'Tamban' went adrift, but could be towed to the Navotas Fish Port Complex. The barges 'ASC Regine' and 'MTKR Patriot III' ran aground and damaged the seawall.
