Ship quarantined after crew member tested positive for CODIV 19

The 'Thorswind', carrying 814 TEU, loaded with Bangladeshi export goods, mainly apparel and jute goods, destined for Europe and America, remained stuck in the mid-sea for days as the Singapore port authority did not permit it for berthing after a crewmember was found Covid-19 positive. The vessel had left Chittagong on Sep 11, 2020 and reached Singapore waters on Sep 16. After that a crewmember tested positive for Covid-19. The Port of Singapore did not let the vessel, operated by COSCO Shipping Lines, take berth and put it under quarantine for 21 days. It moored in pos. 01° 49.74' N 104° 51.06' E. The representative of the vessel's owner was negotiating with the authorities concerned to reduce the quarantine period and seek opportunity for early berthing. Developments in this regard were expected on Sep 23. However, the vessel was unlikely to get permission for berthing soon, thus the containers will miss boarding designated mother vessels.
