Container ship attacked by Houthi terrorists

Tue Jun 25 10:48:33 CEST 2024 Timsen

While sailing in the Arabian Sea about 246 nautical miles southeast of Yemen’s Nishtun., the 'Sarah V', en route from Cristobal to Abu Dhabi, reported an explosion in close proximity to it on June 24, 2024, according to the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO). The crew was reported safe, and the vessel was proceeding to its next port of call. The Red Sea and Gulf of Aden Joint Maritime Information Center (JMIC) later stated that the ship was attacked by a missile, but was not hit. The missile landed in the water approximately 50 meters off the starboard side of the ship. The vessel was likely attacked due to perceived Israeli association.

MSC Sarah aground and refloated in Dardanelles

Sat Feb 01 10:24:02 CET 2014 Timsen

Enroute Sines, where it had sailed on Jan 26, to Ambarli, where it had been expected on Feb 1, the "MSC Sarah" ran aground while passing the Dardanelles on Jan 31 at 10.30 p.m. near Lapseki at Çardak Beldesi. The ship got stuck in front of the Çakar Feneri'nin Lighthouse 9 with a list to starboard at a water depth of 11 meters. The captain radioed the Vessel Traffic Services Center ( VTS) which dispatched the tug "Kurtama 10" which secured the vessel at the stern until the morning of Feb 1. However, more salvage power would be needed to get the ship in blustery weather off. It has a crew of 29 and a container cargo of 38955 tons on board as well as 2506 tons fuel and 179 tons diesel. At 3 p.m. the containership refloated by own means and was sent to a safe anchorage off Şevketiye for a survey. Dardanelles traffic had been suspended from Jan 31 at 10.15 p.m. until Feb 1, 10.15 a.m. Turkish reports with photos and videos: http://www.coastalsafety.gov.tr/default.aspx?b=msc-sarah-isimli-gemi-karaya-oturdu&p=R&pid=165 http://www.denizhaber.com/HABER/34822/1/msc-sarah-canakkale-.html http://haber.dha.com.tr/canakkalede-dev-gemi-karaya-oturdu_590711.html http://www.iha.com.tr/gemi-karaya-oturdu-yardim-istemedi-gundem-328500 http://www.kadinhaberleri.com/genel/karaya-oturan-gemi-kurtarma-talebinde-bulunmadi-h87620.html
