Midas rescued three castaways

On Nov 7, 2020, the 'Midas' on its way from Riga to Fort Lauderdale rescued three people from the capsized catamaran 'Hallucine' in rough seas - a fourth sailor died. The catamaran had capsized about 150 nautical miles from the Portuguese coast. The rescue was carried out in collaboration with an aircraft of Portugal's sea rescue, which gave the 'Midas' the task of steering towards the accident site four hours away. The crew on board the 'Midas' did not succeed in launching any boat in the harsh weather. Instead, two lifelines were fired. Three of the sailors who were on a life raft managed to grab one and then were hauled to a gangway and pulled on board. The fourth of the sailors had died in the accident. His body was later found by Portuguese authorities. The 'Midas' was now taking the castaways to the Azores. The ship then continues to sail between Florida and Haiti for a year.
