Water ingress in engine room
On Oct 12, 2013, the "Merkur II“ got in distress in the port of Kiel at 9 a.m. Short after the ship sailed from the Hörn Quay the Crew remarked water Ingress and raised Alarm at the MRCC of the DGzRS in Bremen. At the same time the master headed towards the Sea Garden Pier and called the fire rescue Kiel which attended with a submersible pump. Jointly with the lifeboat "Berlin" of the DGzRS-station Laboe the water ingress in the engine room could be controlled. The "Berlin" towed the vessel to the Gebr. Friedrich Yard in Kie--Friedrichsort, escorted by the bolice boat "Staberhuk". The "Merkur II" was pulled onto the slip there. The Investigation was still going on.
