Allision on Danube
On July 14, 2013, the "Hamburg", 1351 ts (EU-No.: 4200460), was in allision with the Dutch flagged, self propelled barge "Gramper“, 921 ts (EU-No.: 02313224), in the Kachlet lock on the Danube. The German ship ran into the stern of the "Gramper" and damaged its rudder. As the speed was slow and the "Hamburg" anloaded, the impact was not too strong, but it caused a wire to break which hurt a Dutch deckhand of the "Gramper“. Both ships were towed into the nearby Bayern Port after the accident, and an investigation against the master of the "Hamburg" was launched.
Ship in trouble twice a week
On Jan 26, 2012, the "Hamburg", 1351 ts (ENI-No.: 05501730), was run aground on the IJssel near Zutphen, thus blocking the river for ship traffic. The ship which carried no cargo was too high to pass under the Outer IjsselBbridge and at the same time suffered an engine failure, leaving the choice to allide with the bridge or being run aground. The vessel was refloated after six hours by two tugs "Arcturus" and "Mistral" and pulled to Zutphen, escorted by the "RWS 42", where repairs were to be carried out before being allowed to sail again. Already on Jan 24 the ship had allided with the Pothoofd Quay in Deventer due to technical problems.
