Fishing vessel assisted colleagues in distress

The fishing vessel 'Tamara' with three crew members on board sank tow nautical miles south of Cabo Fisterra due to a leak on Aug 9, 2024. The MRCC of Salvamento Marítimo in Fisterra was alered shortly before 9:00 a.m. by the nearby 'Meira Da Costa' and told the crew of the 'Tamara' to put on their life jackets. The SAR vessel 'Don Inda' was immediately mobilized along the SAR helicopter Helimer 401 , both with motor pumps. At 9:08 a.m., the pleasure boat 'Batega' rescued the 3 crew membersand confirmed that a quarter of the ship had sunk. The SAR boat 'Salvamar Regulus' was also mobilised to try to tow it with the 'Don Inda' auxiliary vessel, but the'MEira Da Costa' finally sank at around 10:00 a.m. The Sasemar 305 aircraft has been mobilised to monitor any remaining pollution.

Fishing vessel towed to Muros

The 'Meira da Costa' got the propeller fouled by its net and requestsed towing assistance on May 8, 2024, about 6.5 nautical miles south of Cabo Fisterra with seven crew members on board. The CCS Fisterra of Salvevamento Marítimo mobilized the SAR vessel 'Salvamar Régulus', which pulled the ship safely to Muros.
