Ferry detained in Algiers after PSC
Corsica Linea had announced that the 'Mediterranean', which has been detained in Algiers on June 28, 20255, will return to Marseille on July 1. The French shipping company has seen its schedule of crossings between Algeria and France disrupted due to the detention of its ship for inspections by Algerian maritime authorities. In the non-departure certificates issued to passengers on June 29 by the ship's purser, it was stated that inspections by Algerian maritime authorities have been carried out since June 28 at 10 a.m. The company assured its passengers that it was actively working to offer them an alternative travel solution. Passengers were asked to disembark the ship and proceed to customs and police formalities before 4 p.m. At the Port of Algiers, hundreds of passengers, including many families, remained at length waiting for information regarding the fate of their journey. Passengers hoped to be compensated for some or to be transferred to other crossings, given that their initial journey was impacted by the prolonged docking of the 'Méditerranée' in Algiers.
680 Ukrainian refugees have to leave ferry
Since the beginning of the Russian war against the Ukraine, 680 Ukrainian refugees have been living on board the 'Méditerranée' in Marseille. However, they will have to leave the ship on June 10. The Bouches-du-Rhône prefecture indicated that it is looking for accommodation solutions, bringing the emergency solution to an end. The ferry of the company Corsica Linea must resume service with the start of the summer season. As for the next drop-off point for Ukrainian refugees, the prefecture ensured that it is looking for more sustainable accommodation solutions.
Eight crew members tested positive for COVID 19
The "Méditerranée", coming from Marseille with 1.270 people on board, was anchored off the port of La Goulette on July 14, 2020, awaiting authorization from the medical authorities to access the berth, in accordance with government health measures in the context of the fight against the spread of the coronavirus. The coordination is underway for the mandatory quarantine of 1,200 passengers from the port of Marseille following a report of eight coronavirus infected crew members, which prompted to take the precautionary measure.
