Collision on upper Merwede
The 'Main-Spessart', coming from Millingen, was involved in a collision on the upper Merwede near Gorinchem on Dec 5, 2019. Around noon the emergency services were alerted and attended with various fire brigade vehicles. Also the Royal Dutch Rescue Society (KNRM) came to the scene urgently. The tanker had suffered a breach at the starboard side bow above the waterline and moored in the outer port of Gorinchem. An inspection by the fire brigade revealed no environmental threats or other danger arising from the damage. The other ship suffered no significant damage. The police and the Environment and Transport Inspectorate investigated the cause of the collision.
