Collision on the Rhine
On Jan 10, 2018, at 6:27 p.m. the "Eiltank 232“, 2596 ts (IMO-No.: 8647165) was in collision with the „Ocean“, 2349 ts (EU-Nr.: 2327056) due to a navigational mistake of the downriver bound "Eiltank 232“ on the Rhine at the Loreley. The "Ocean“, loaded with 1.283 tons oil, was underway from Niehl towards Kehl, the "Eiltank 232", loaded with 1.000 tosn bio diesel and coming from Mannheim was headed towards the Northsea and did not correct its course in time when the "Ocean" approached.Its port side stern hit against the bow of the "Ocean". Both ships were slightly damaged but able to continue their respective voyages. The "Eiltank 232" reached Flushing via Duisburg and Hans Weert on Jan 12. The "Ocean" berthed in Kehl on Jan 12 at 11.45 p.m.
