Fuel injector trouble off Beachy Head

Wed Jan 08 10:46:06 CET 2020 Timsen

The 'Louis', en route from Rostock to Olvia with 11 crew members on board, suffered problem with its fuel injector system on Jan 6, 2020, at 9.25 p.m. in position 50 39 13 N, 000 26 51 E, about nine miles, southeast of Beachy Head. The vessel was carrying more than 2.500 tonnes of non-dangerous cargo related to windmill. The expected time to carry out repairs was approximately two hours, and no assistance was required. The vessel anchored about nine miles, southeast of Beachy Head while effecting repair works before resuming the voyage.

Louis shifted back to discharging position

Sat Oct 26 15:31:55 CEST 2019 Timsen

After the dock accident of the 'Louis' while discharging cargo in the shipyard's drydock in Nikolayev, when the dock-door broke down and the incoming water stream consequently tore off the mooring lines of the vessel causing it to hit the dock's concrete berth framing, on Oct 24 shifted back to the original position for discharging, using ropes and tug assistance. The ship had suffered numerous dents and scratches to its bulb, port side hull as well as a punctured life boat and smashed port side gangway, ballast tanks, steering gear and some of its machinery. No pollution or injuries were reported. The ship was repaired in Varn from Nov 18 to Dec 1, at 4.15 p.m. that day and headed to Ünye with an ETA as of Dec 3.

Dry dock accident in Nikolayev

Mon Oct 21 12:12:08 CEST 2019 Timsen

After the 'Louis' was taken into a dry dock in Nikolayev on Oct 18, 2019, and offloading project cargo with the dock’s gantry crane, a 300-meter wall in the dry dock which separated it in two, gave way and collapsed. Water rushed into the dock like a waterfall from 15 meters height and flooded the second section, which was dry. The ship bow-dived with the waterfall, and river water, which rushed into the free space, heaved it and mitigated the impact. The 'Louis' struck the wall with the bow and suffered damage to ballast tanks. On Oct 19, the ship was still in dry dock.
