Rescued migrants disembarked in Naples
The disembarkation operations of the 41 castaways rescued by the 'Life Support' on July 29 between 3 a.m. and 3:45 a.m. in the international waters of the Libyan SAR zone in the central Mediterranean, have ended in the port of Naples on Aug 1. The migrants, including three unaccompanied minors, had been travelling on board a small fibreglass boat. NGO ship rescued 41 migrants
On the early morning of July 29, the 'Life Support' rescued 41 people who were on board a distressed boat in international waters of the Libyan SAR zone. The overcrowded small fiberglass boat was spotted just before 3 a.m. The rescue was completed with the safe transfer of the 41 shipwrecked people, including three unaccompanied minors, at around 3.45 a.m. During the SAR operation, an unidentified and unlit boat approached the area of operations but did not cause any disturbance, The migrants had left Sabratha in Libya at midnight and were coming from Syria, Egypt, Bangladesh. Two people who were on board the boat refused assistance and, after the completion of the SAR operation, left together with the unidentified boat, which had approached the rescue operations. The authorities have assigned Naples as the port of disembarkation with an ETA as of July 31 at around 6 p.m.
81 migrants rescued by two NGO ships
On July 1 the 'Geo Barents' carried out two rescue missions and was able to save a total of 34 people from distress at sea who had set off from Libya. The ship got Anmcona assigned as a safe port with an ETA as of July 2. Alarm-Phone also informed Sea-Watch of an emergency. When the 'Aurora' from Sea-Watch arrived near the last known position, it found only an empty boat. The people may have been victims of an illegal pullback to Libya. In another rescue operation on June 26, the 'Life Support' rescued 47 people from distress at sea. The ship was assigned Livorno as a safe port, which meant an additional sailing time of over three days for the refugees. By assigning Livorno as a safe port for the 'Life Support', the ship was kept away from the operational area in the central Mediterranean for days. It reached the port on June 30 at 8.50 a.m.
