Near miss in the Bosphorus
On Nov 23, 2024, at 6.40 a.m. UTC the 'Kıran America', en route from İskenderun to Karadeniz Ereğli, lost control and drifted towards the shore off the Kanlıca - Çubuklu Coastal road during the transit of the Bosphorus amid bad weather conditions. There were conflicting reports on whether it was a rudder failure or strong winds accompanying the storm that led to the vessel losing control. A KEGM tugboat, which was moored at the Çubuklu rapid intervention pier, was urgently moved up and moved towards the ship. It anchored off Karadeniz Eregli in pos. 41° 15' N 031° 23' E on Nov 23 at 6 p.m. Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x5iDdhSM9V8
