Two crew members taken hostage in pirate attack off Lagos
The "CMA CGM Turquoise" was attacked by pirates on Apr 11, 2016, at 7.56 p.m. in position 04 07N 005 24E off the Bayelsa State coast. Armed pirates boarded the vessel underway. After the master activated SSAS, all crew members except two hid in the citadel, then contact was lost. The crew waited inside citadel for 12 hours. When they came out, they found that the two crew members who didn’t make it to the citadel were kidnapped. The ship was en route from Lagos to Douala. On Apr 13 at 3.30 p.m. it was at anchor on Douala outer road.
