Ship ran onto rocks near Maronissos
On the morning of Nov 11, 2024, the Port Authorities of Piraeus and Saronic were informed by the Unified Center for Coordination of Search and Rescue (E.K.S.E.D.) L.S.-EL.AKT., that the'Karewood Glory' ran into a rocky point on the southeast side of the island of Makronissos en route from Inebolu to the port of Piraeus, with nine crew members, all nationals of Ukraine, on board. The ship safely sailed to the anchorage of the port of Piraeus, accompanied by the tug 'Alexander 5'. The ship suffered a breach at the starboard side above the waterline, while no injuries were reported. The 2nd Port Department of Keratsini of the Central Port Authority of Piraeus banned the ship from sailing until the certificate of seaworthiness and maintenance of class has been presented by the classifier monitoring the ship.
