Barge damaged power lines
On Nov 13, 2015, the "Kamperzand", 1381 ts (EU-No.: 02323627), coming from Lünen enroute to the power Station Heil with a cargo of coal, damaged a power line over the Rhine-Herne Canal some hundred meters off the port with the ship's crane which had been raised too early to haul a vehicle from board. The top of a pylon on the shore was bent so that the power lines came down, causing a temporary power outage in Rünthe, Oberaden and Heil. The crane was torn off, and the ship stopped off the power Station. The fire brigades from Rünthe and Heil were on site to secure the power supply and cut off the damaged lines.
