Engine failure on Lek
On Nov 2, 2017, at 8 a.m. the "Johannes-P", 1602 ts (EU-No.: 02317165); suffered engine failure and drifted perpendicular in the fairway of the Lek river between Vreeswijk and Vianen. The crew could quickly drop anchors, preventing the ship from drifting onto a crib. A boat of Rijkawaterstaat was in place after 10 minutes to warn the passing ship traffic. The barge "Amento" was able to maneuver alongside the tank barge and towed it back to the jetty on the Lek side of the Beatrix lock. After she continued the voyage, she berthed in the Wilhelmina Port in Rotterdam on Nov 3 short past noon.
