No decision regarding repair yard yet

Wed Jan 02 21:21:07 CET 2013 Timsen

The "Jeandine", 2365 ts (EU-No: 4803290; CS DH2708), remained in the port of Bingen by Jan 3, 2013. There has not yet been a decision regarding the repair of the propulsion gear which was damaged by driftwood will be done in Speyer, the Netherlands or another place and the options are still being assessed.

Disabled tanker lightered

Mon Dec 31 15:26:24 CET 2012 Timsen

2000 tons kerosene were lightered from the "Jeandine" on Dec 30, onto another tanker in the port of Bingen. The operation lasted eight hours. The lighter tanker took the fuel oil to Kelsterbach near Frankfurt, while the "Jeandine" probably on Jan 2, 2013, will be towed to a repair yard.

Disabled tanker pulled to Bingen to be lightered

Fri Dec 28 18:46:35 CET 2012 Timsen

The repair of the "Jeandine" which is loaded with 2000 tons of aircraft fuel on the Rhine near Bingen will take longer than expected. the clutch and gearbox must be replaced. As this can not be done on site, the cargo is to be pumped out in the port of Bingen before, then the ship can be towed to a shipyard. First, however, the arrival of another tanker for receiving the fuel has to be awaited. The damage suffered on Dec 26 was probably caused by a floating log which got stuck in the propeller. Then the clutch and transmission were overloaded. The tanker was dragged from its anchorage at Assmannshausen to Bingen by a pushed concoy on Dec 27.
