Grounding on Sulina Channel

On Sep 10, 2024, the 'Hopterix', loaded with rolled products ran aground on in the Sulina Channel near Mile 17 on the right bank. The ship was heading to Brăila Port when it got stuck in pos. 45° 12' N 028° 52 E, iThe tug 'Sulina 2', belonging to the "Lower Danube River Administration" (AFDJ) Galati, was sent to the area to carry out refloating operations. Also, a team from the Sulina Port Authority was present on the spot to monitor the situation. Because the refloating operation was not possible with a single tug, a second tug, the"GalațI 3", was sent to assist on the morning of Sep 11. As the 'Hopererix' was stuck in the longitudinal axis of the navigable channe ship traffic in the area had not to be restricted. The Port Authority of Sulina has launched an investigation.
