FBI started investigation into deadly accident
After a 12-year-old boy plummeted to his death after falling from a balcony in the ship's "Central Park" neighborhood — an open area in the ship's interior on the 8th deck — which includes bars, restaurants, shops, and more than 10,000 plants and flowers, the FBI confirmed that it was investigating the incident. It wasthe primary federal agency authorized to investigate potential crimes on the high seas, and was coordinating with the U.S. Coast Guard and Customs and Border Protection. The FBI and Royal Caribbean did not reveal the circumstances of how the boy fell from the balcony. Royal Caribbean released a statement on the boy's death: “We are deeply saddened to confirm the death of one of our guests. Our Care Team is providing support and assistance to the guest’s family during this difficult time. For the privacy of the guest and their family, we have no additional details to share.” Already in 2019, a 16-year-old boy fell to his death while attempting to climb into his room from the balcony of the 'Harmony of the Seas'. The teen was on the eighth deck, according to the Broward Medical Examiner’s Office. He landed on a pier after attempting to climb into his room from a nearby balcony because he forgot his room key.

On Sep 8, 2024, a 12 year old boy plunged to his death aboard the 'Harmony of the Seas'. He was playing with friends that he had made on the cruise when he toppled over the railing of his family’s 14th floor room, landing head-first six decks below in the Central Park area of the ship, a busy plaza filled with bars, shops and restaurants.. The accident happened on the last night of a seven-day cruise of the vessel. Staff tried to resuscitate him. but he died before the ship was able to dock in Texas. The boy was on the cruise with his family, including two sisters, for a birthday celebration.
Passenger medevaced after fall on board
The US Coast Guard medevaced an 85-year-old man from the 'Harmony of the Seas', which was sailing 24 miles off Galveston, Texas, on May 20, 2024. Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston watchstanders received a medevac request at 6:30 p.m., stating an 85-year-old male passenger had sustained a head injury due to a fall aboard the vessel. Watchstanders consulted with the duty flight surgeon, who recommended a medevac. An already-airborne Coast Guard Air Station Houston MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew was diverted to conduct the medevac. The helicopter crew arrived on scene, embarked the passenger and transported him to the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston in stable condition.
