Medevac off Isla Mujeres

Fri Feb 21 11:40:13 CET 2025 Timsen

Marina personnel assisted in the medevac of a passenger from the 'Harmony of the Seas' on Feb 18, 2025. The ship's doctors had reported that the male passenger has suffered a heart attack. an MLB vessel from the Fifth Naval Region out of Isla Mujeres rendezvoused with the 'Harmony of the Seas' after the ship had requested assistance to urgently transfer the 65-year-old man who was suffering from an acute myocardial infarction. The MLB had specialized rescue personnel and Naval Health personnel on board. Upon arriving at the emergency site, approximately five nautical miles northeast of Isla Mujeres, the medical staff proceeded to examine the passenger, who was transferred to the MLB-type vessel to be transported by sea to Puerto Juárez. The man descended the cruise ship’s ladder on his own feet and at no time was it necessary to use a stretcher. Paramedics from a private company were waiting, who took charge of the patient and channeled him by emergency ambulance to a local hospital in order to receive specialized medical attention. Medevac in Cozumel

Mon Dec 16 12:25:49 CET 2024 Timsen

The 'Harmony of the Seas' returned to Galveston, Texas, with a delay of eight hours on Dec 15, 2024, due to a medical emergency that required an unscheduled stop in Cozumel on the cruise’s back end. On Dec 13 an elderly passenger traveling with her family showed symptoms of a major stroke or aneurysm. The woman began experiencing vision changes and a severe headache, which escalated to minimal responsiveness. The ship’s medical team responded quickly, but the decision was made to return the vessel to Cozumel for an emergency evacuation. The passenger was medevaced and receiving care at an international hospital. assengers scheduled for the next sailing, originally set to embark on the morning, were asked to delay their arrival at the terminal until 8:00 p.m. Royal Caribbean offered onboard credits and prorated refunds for affected pre-cruise packages to compensate for the disruption. Despite the delay, the ship’s upcoming itinerary, including stops in Roatan, Costa Maya, and Cozumel, remained unchanged.

Itinerary changed due to hurricane Milton

Thu Oct 10 10:24:06 CEST 2024 Timsen

The 'Harmony of the Seas', which had departed Galveston, Texas on Oct 6, had to skip a port call in Honduras due to hurricane Milton and replaced it with a stop in Costa Maya, Mexico. On Oct 8 the passengers were informed that plan had to change again because the widening storm meant a visit to Costa Maya would be impossible. To maintain a safe distance from the storm, and its widespread impacts, the heading was adjuisted to find smoother seas before resuming to the original course towards Cozumel. Instead, the ship skipped Costa Maya and remained at sea which meant just one port visit in total for the entire cruise.
