Fire in engine room on the Maas
In the afternoon of Dec 5, 2015, around 4 p.m. a fire broke out in the engine room of the unloaded "Goudvis 2", 3125 ts (EU-No.: 06004002) on the Outer Maas at the height of the Achterzee dike in Barendrecht. The ship got disabled and got stuck just off the Koedoodse port. Emergency services initially had trouble finding the ship. Several police cars parked at the ancient bridgehead from the Barendrecht Bridge. The barge "Cortina" went alongside the "Goudvis 2", The fire could be extinguished within 45 minutes by the fire boat South Netherlands, the "RWS 73" which transferred fire fighters aboard, and the "Tjepke Ekkelboom" of the KNRM Dordrecht.
