Port ferry damaged by leaderless dinghy
On March 27, 2017, at 6.30 p.m. the 45-year-old skipper of a dinghy lost his balance on the Northern Elbe in Hamburg-Waltershof near the Athabaska Quay in the swell of another ship and was thrown into the water. The dinghy went on without the operator, because the emergency stop function of the boat did not work, and it slammed into the "Hamburgensie", which was underway towards Finkenwerder. A passenger of the port ferry recognized the situation and jumped into the dinghy and drove it safely to the pier in Neumühlen. The boatman was rescued by the crew of the "Hamburgensie" and remained uninjured. The ferry suffered damage at the port side, also the dinghy suffered hull damage. The water police carried out the further investigations.
Port ferry smashed into pier
The "Hamburgensie" allided with the Pier in Neumühlen (Othmarschen) on the Elbe on June 30, 2015, at 11.20 a.m. Three passengers fell onto the deck and had to be treated on scene by Medics with abrasions and bruises, but did not have to be taken to hospital. The water police launched an investigation. The ship returned to service following a thorough technical survey.
