Fire in superstructure
On Oct 17, 2019, a fire broke out in a cabin of the 'Habiba M' in Damietta Port at Dock No. 9. The fire caused an explosion of the cabins. Marine Units of the Port Authority and the Civil Protection Forces were alerted at 1.30 p.m. and tackled the fire assisted by tugs with firefighting equipment which had spread in the superstructure of the ship. The 'Habiba M' had arrived at the port at dawn for shipping a quantity of phosphate ore.
