Friendship Offshore accused of plundering war grave
The Friendship Offshore from Terschelling was accused to have plundered the wreck of the British battleship HMS "Queen Mary" with the "Good Hope 1". The salvors allegedly broke the hull open to remove boiler components and other equipment containing copper and bronze. The allegations renew claims publicized in May which included photographic evidence which appears to show remains of the "Queen Mary" on the deck of the Good Hope, a vessel owned by the salvage, recovery and wreck removal firm Friendship Offshore. The ship is a war grave of more than 1200 people who have given their life history for a higher purpose, said Wouter Waldo, maritime archaeologist: "If it's true, it's a scandal". Friendship Offshore reacted that they found the outrage 'selective'. The Dutch Ministry of Defence informed that demolition of sunken warships is nothing less than grave breaches.
Good Hope raised wreck in Seine Bay
On Mar 12, 2015, the "Good Hope" entered the port of Terschelling with the wreck of the French 15-m-f/v "Lucky LH 482700" from Le Havre on deck. The gutted vessel was resting bottom up after the ship of the offshore company Friendship on Terschelling had raised it off Ouistreham where the trawler had sunk after a fire on Jan 6.
