Golsan arrived in La Guaira despite sanctions

Fri Jan 08 11:59:20 CET 2021 Timsen

The 'Golsan' arrived at the Venezuelan port of La Guaira on Jan 7, 2021, at 7.25 p.m. in what appeared to be a continuation of the commercial alliance between the two countries targeted by U.S. sanctions. Iran has been supplying gasoline to ease fuel shortages in Venezuela caused by decay of the South American nation’s refineries and worsened by sanctions. It has also shipped food to help the government of President Nicolas Maduro. The 'Golsan' had left Bandar Abbas on Oct 25, 2020. It was not immediately evident what cargo it was carrying.

Supply ship arrived in La Guaira

Mon Jun 22 13:35:10 CEST 2020 Timsen

On June 21, 2020, the 'Golsan' arrived in the Venezuelan port of La Guaira with a cargo of food that will supply the South American nation's first Iranian supermarket. Iran supplied 1.5 million barrels of fuel to Venezuela last month amid a collapse of refinery operations and tightening sanctions by the United States that has made it more difficult for Venezuela to obtain fuel on international markets. The 'Golsan' had departed on May 15 from Bandar Abbas. Five tankers left for the Caribbean from the same port in March after loading fuel Iran is expected to dispatch two to three monthly shipments of gasoline to its ally Venezuela, which would help offload the gasoline inventory that Iran accumulates, while helping to alleviate the fuel shortage in Venezuela.
