Tank barge grounded on the Rhine
On Sep 13, 2018, at 4.20 a.m. the "Imperial Gas 82", 1354 ts (EU-No.: 05501770), enroute to Rotterdam, ran aground on the Rhine in Colonia north of the Severins Bridge. The ship got stuck outside the fairway on a sandbar. The ship which was carrying a cargo of propylen gas initially tried to get off again with own power, but it then drifted onto the right Rhine side and got stuck again on sandy bottom. At 3.10 p.m. the Dutch container barge "Norma" (MMSI: 244710238), was able to get the tanker off. The Rhine was barred for shipping during the salvage attempts. At 4 p.m. the tank barge berthed in the port of Colonia.
