Fire off Ouistreham
On Sep 20, 2019, around 8:20 p.m., the CROSS Jobourg was alerted after a fire broke out in the engine room of the 'Sandra Kevin Dylan' six miles north of Ouistreham. The three crew members deployed their liferaft and abandoned the vessel. The CROSS then immediately broadcasted a Mayday relay and dispatched the SNSM boat 'Sainte-Anne' from the station Ouistreham. Two other fishing vessels, the 'Copernicus' and 'No Limit', were nearby and responded, and the ferry 'Normandie' offered assistance too. At about 8:55 p.m., the SNSM boat and the two fishing vessels arrived on scene The three fishermen were recovered by the 'Copernicus'. Two SNSM men went board the 'Sandra Kevin Dylan' around 9:05 p.m. to fight the fire and got it under control around 9:30 p.m. It was extinguished at 9:50 p.m. The SNSM boat took the trawler in tow and headed for Ouistreham where it arrived at 12.30 a.m. The other ships were released from the SAR operation once the towage had started. The repair work was to take place in Port-en-Bessin and expected to take one month. Trawler suffered rudder damage off Ouistreham
On Apr 7, 2016, at 8 a.m. the "Sandra-Kévin-Dylan" suffered rudder damag 11 nautical north of Ouistreham. The crew could not return to port under own power and asked for assistance of the SNSM.
