Medevac hampered by fog
On Feb 23, 2012, the Dieppe Lifeguards were mobilized to bring a medical team aboard the "La Bours". The captain had request medical assistance at the regional operational surveillance and rescue center Gris-Nez as one of the four crew members had fallen ill. The Gris-nez held a conference call with the Navy medical consultation center at Toulouse and the maritime medical coordination (SAMU) at Havre who recommended a medical evacuation. A Dauphin helicopter of the Naval base in Le Touquet and the lifeboat "Notre Dame de Bonsecours" of the SNSM-station in Dieppe were dispatched simultaneously. The lifeboat rushed to the scene with a medical team of the hospital in Dieppe on board. Poor visibility made it impossible to transfer the patient onto the boat. The medical team was transhipped on board the trawler which headed for Dieppe with high speed, being escorted by the lifeboat. The ship docked at 11 p.m. and was immediately treated by the maritime medical coordination service.
