Difficult medevac off Brest
On May 27, 2012, the MRCC Gris-Nez was alerted by the Maritime Medical Consultation Centre of Toulouse after a crew member of the yacht "Taoz" was injured. The victim, aged 70, had been hit with a balm and likely suffered head injury. The yacht was 460 nautical miles off the port of Brest. The Naval Operations Center of the navy at Brest was contacted because the frigate "La Motte-Picquet" was not far from the yacht and had a medical officer on board. The frigate "La Motte Picquet" was in contact with the "Taoz" on May 28 at 11 p.m., and on 29 May morning the doctor of the frigate went aboard the yacht. Weather conditions were very difficult while the man was evacuated with an RIB. On May 30 at 9:30 a.m., the "La Motte-Picquet" docked at Brest, and the victim was takeb to the hospital de la Cavale Blanche.
