Ethan sold after three years in Quebec

Mon May 27 21:34:49 CEST 2019 Timsen

The "Ethan", which has been docked for nearly three years at the Port of Quebec, was sold at a price of US $ 150,000 to a new owner. The two sailors stuck on board still dod not know if they will succeed in recovering the wages that were due to them. The native Bahamian man and Viacheslav Borshchevskij, a Ukrainian citizen, have been living aboard the ship since 2016. Accompanied by the International Federation of Transport Employees, the two sailors will have to go to the Federal Court to have the unpaid amounts recognized. They claimed to have unpaid wages and reimbursable expenses totaling more than $ 200,000. Other creditors were added to the list of stakeholders who will have to be reimbursed with the money from the sale.

Quebec may get rid of abandoned ship

Mon May 20 13:09:25 CEST 2019 Timsen

The Port of Quebec will finally be able to get rid of the "Ethan" that has been abandoned for nearly 2,5 years by its owner. The Federal Court has just ruled in favor of the Port and ordered the sale of the ship, which belonged to D & D Investments. The company stopped paying port dues and since then the ship has been abandoned in Quebec City. The Port of Quebec continued to provide drinking water and electricity services to the vessel since two sailors, one from the Caribbean, the other from the Ukraine, were still living on board and taken care of since by the House of the Sailor. Only one company made an offer, the Gambia's Jah Multi Industrial has pledged US $ 150,000. The assignment could be quick, if the company pays and succeeds in making the "Ethan" fit for navigation. Creditors have time until the end of June to come forward otherwise. The Court must now complete the sale process.
