Tanker grounded on the Waal
The 'Eternity', 2991 ts, loaded with diesel, ran aground enroute from Dordrecht to Raunheim on the Waal at Zennewijnen near Tiel after a rudder failure on Dec 14, 2019, at 6 p.m. The disabled ship got stuck off Zennewijnen on a stone dam parallel to the fairway. Passing ship traffic was not hampered. A police boat and a fire boat were on the spot. A salvage vessel and a ship of Rijkswaterstaat was called to refloat the ship. After the ship was floating again, it proceeded to an overnight berth in IJzendoorn near Tiel, escorted by the salvage ships. The defective rudder had since been repaired. After it passed an inspection by the Environment and Transport Inspection it continued its voyage. On Dec 15 at 6.50 p.m. it reached Millingen and proceeded to Raunheim the same evening. On Dec 19 at 2.30 a.m. the ship berthed at Unitank Frankfurt. Tank barge was stuck on Wester Scheldt
On Apr 8, 2015, at 10.30 a..m. the "Eternity", whilst coming from Terneuzen, ran aground at a stone dam on the Wester Scheldt at Hansweert. The tank barge was loaded with flammable liquids. Rijkswaterstaat raised alarm and inserted a Regional Operational Team at 11.15 a.m. Short time later. at 11.25 a.m., the "Eternity" was pulled off with the help of the tug "Bravo" of the salvage company Polderman in Hansweert in spite of the dropping water level, and the emergency forces could be stood down.
