Engine failure in Çanakkale Strait
The ‘Esenkıyı’, en route from from Ordu to Bodrum, suffered an engine failure while passing through the Çanakkale Strait off the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge on Sep 16, 2024. After the captain reported the situation to the Çanakkale Strait Vessel Traffic Services Directorate via radio, the tugs ‘Kurtarma-15’ and ‘Türkeli’ were deployed by the General Directorate of Coastal Safety (KEGM) . Other ships that were going to pass through the Strait were informed about the failure. The ‘Esenkıyı’ was taken to Şevketiye anchorage, accompanied by a pilot, where it was moored.
