Tanker assisted distressed rower
On Dec 29, 2021, the 'Emerald Spirit' came to the rescue of an adventurer, who had been drifting in the Pacific Ocean for weeks, by providing him with food and water. The man was rowing from Cabo San Lucas to Puerto Vallarta but came off its course due to inclement weather. He ran out of foord and water within days and survived solely on the rain water he had collected. The USCG alerted the tanker at 12.30 p.m. and diverted to the position 160 kilometers off the coast. The man was found in weak condition and supplied with foord, fruits, water and essential medicines. Then he resumed the journey.
