Offshore ship saved 11 occupants of downed helicopter
The "Dijama" came to the aid of a distressed helicopter, which had nosedived into the ocean off Lagos buoy on Feb 3, 2016. Although they sustained varying degrees of injuries, all 11 occupants of the helicopter were rescued, including the pilot, the female co-pilot and nine other passengers. Bristow Helicopters (Nigeria) Limited confirmed the incidence stating the helicopter was involved in a water landing near Lagos at about 10.25 a.m. on return from an offshore platform. The Sikorsky S-76C++ had departed on a routine crew transfer flight o. All persons on board are accounted for and in the process of being transferred to a nearby installation.
