Pusher tug sank off Lelystad

On Sep 26, 2019, at 9.15 a.m. the 'Devotion' suffered water ingress on the IJssel Sea off Lelystad. The KNRM Urk was alerted about the distress situation near the Maxima central and deployed their lifeboats. The tug was already sinking upon their arrival. The ship was heavily listing to starboard side and capsized soon after. The master was rescued by a lifeboat crew and taken back to the station. The salvage of the tug was to be carried out by Rijkswaterstaat. In the meantime, ships were requested to pass the sinking site with caution.
