Grounding on the Lek
On Oct 18, 2018, around 6 p.m. the "Cotrans 7", 1060 ts (EU-No.: 02315760;), ran aground at the Wijk ferry to Duurstede on the Lek. The ship had exceeded the advised draught by loading too much sand. The ferry tried to push the barge aside, but failed. The passing barge "Alorba" from Werkendam went alongside and tied up within 30 minutes. She managed to refloat the "Cotrans 7" after some time, and now also the blocked ferry was able to transit the river again.
