Container ship allided with docked ferry
The 'Tokyo Bay', en rotue from Navegantes to Santos, was in allison with the ferry 'FB 30' which was docked at the maintenance pier of the Port of Santos, on the coast of São Paulo, on Sep 16, 2024, at 1.15 p.m. The allision occurred as the cargo ship was maneuvering to enter the port channel. The container ship had left Santa Catarina and was bound for DP World Santos, when it veered too far out of the navigation channel and scraped the ferry with its starboard side. It managed to dock without any major problems after the incident. There were no injuries, and the operation of the crossings between Santos and Guarujá was not affected. The cause of the collision and the damage were being investigated by maritime authorities. Zodiac Maritime takes delivery of CAP ARNAUTI (6,612 teu)
@linervision: Zodiac Maritime has taken delivery of the first of four compact 6,612 teu sister vessels which the London-based non-operating owner ordered in April 2011 at Hanjin Heavy Industries Subic Bay. The new ship has left the Philippine yard under the name CAP ARNAUTI to join her charterer Hamburg Süd. She is scheduled to phase into the multi-operator Far East to ECSA service (#2807) jointly offered by the German carrier and its partners CMA CGM, Hanjin, CSCL and CSAV. This service had been launched in early June as part of a wider restructuring of the Asia to South America trade lane. The CAP ARNAUTI is 271m long and 42.80m (17 rows) wide. She is thus a typical example of the more recent compact ship design in this size class, compared to the more commonplace 6,600 teu ships of 300m length and 40m (16 rows) beam built in the recent past. full story: http://linervision.wordpress.com/2013/07/31/zodiac-maritime-takes-delivery-of-cap-arnauti-6612-teu/
