Four containers fell from ship in Singapore

Fri May 31 13:11:52 CEST 2019 Timsen

During cargo handling operation, four containers fell from the "CMA CGM Lyra" main deck stowage station to the wharf side and sea at pier No. P36 in the Pasir Panjang Container terminal, Singapore, on May 9, 2019, at 6 a.m. Three fell into the sea and one onto the pier. Structural damages occurred to the vessel's main deck handrails, lashing stacking stations and railway section in way of stowage bay No. 7 on deck. Upon completion of initial damage surveys and completion of cargo handling operations, the vessel sailed from Singapore the same day. An underwater inspection and salvage operation of the three sunken containers were made from sea to pier at the container terminal on May 10, under the presence of attended surveyors.
