Thetis offloaded more than $211 million in illicit drug interdictions in the Eastern Pacific
The 'Thetis’ offloaded more than 28,500 pounds of cocaine worth an estimated $211.3 million, on May 29, 2025,, at Port Everglades. The seized contraband was the result of four interdictions in the Eastern Pacific by the Coast Guard Cutter and an embarked MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Helicopter Interdiction Tactical Squadron based out of Jacksonville, Florida. On May 3, a maritime patrol aircraft located two suspicious vessels approximately 170 miles west of Mexico. The 'Thetis’' interdicted the vessels and seized 4,630 pounds of cocaine. The Coast Guard transferred 4,608 pounds of cocaine from this case to Ecuadorian government officials to aid them in their prosecution efforts. On May 5, an embarked helicopter aboard the 'Thetis' observed a bale field approximately 475 miles southwest of Colima, Mexico. Thetis’ crew recovered 9,993 pounds of cocaine from the bale field. On May 6, an embarked helicopter aboard the 'Thetis' detected two suspicious vessels throwing bales overboard approximately 575 miles southwest of Acapulco, Mexico. Due to an incoming storm, the air crew lost sight of the vessels but led the 'Thetis' to three bale fields where 14,559 pounds of cocaine bales were recovered. On May 10, the 'ThetisÄ spotted a bale field approximately 660 miles south of Acapulco, Mexico. Thetis’ crew recovered 3,984 pounds of cocaine from the bale field. 305 migrants repatriated
U.S. Coast Guard cutters returned a combined 305 migrants to the Bahamas and Haiti on June 9 and 10, 2024, following multiple interdictions of unlawful maritime migration attempts over the last week in support of Operation Vigilant Sentry. The 'Raymond Evans' and 'Richard Etheridge 'transferred 109 people to the Royal Bahamas Defence Force on June 9, following an interdiction near Anguilla Cay, Bahamas. U.S. Customs and Border Protection Air and Marine Operations (CBP-AMO) aircrews notified Coast Guard Sector Key West watchstanders of a migrant venture near Anguilla Cay and crews diverted to interdict them. The Coast Guard Cutter 'Thetis' repatriated 196 people to Haiti, Monday, following two migrant voyage interdictions on June 5 and June 6. A CBP-AMO aircrew notified Coast Guard District Seven watchstanders on June 5 of a migrant venture north of Cap-Haitien, Haiti. Another CBP-AMO aircrew notified Coast Guard District Seven watchstanders on June 6 of a migrant venture north of Île de la Tortue, Haiti. Crews diverted to interdict both vessels. Once aboard the Coast Guard cutters, migrants are processed to determine their identity and are provided food, water, shelter, and basic medical attention before repatriation to their country of origin or return to the country from which they departed. Thetis nabbed $70 million in illegal narcotics during 55-day patrol
The crew of the 'Thetis (WMEC 910)' returned home to Key West on Sep 15, 2023, following a 55-day patrol in the Western Caribbean Sea and Eastern Pacific Ocean. Patrolling in support of Joint Interagency Task Force South, the 'Thetis' worked alongside other Coast Guard cutters and U.S. partners to conduct counterdrug operations and fight transnational criminal organizations with the assistance of an embarked aviation detachment from the Coast Guard Helicopter Interdiction Tactical Squadron. The 'Thetis' seized approximately $70 million worth of illegal narcotics over the course of two counterdrug operations. During one case, the 'Thetis' apprehended three suspected drug traffickers. In another case, collaboration with a U.S. Customs and Border Protection maritime patrol aircraft led to the recovery of approximately 5,325 pounds of illegal narcotics by the 'Thetis'’ pursuit team.
