22 migrants interdicted off Point Loma

The 'Narwhal (WPB-87335)' interdicted 22 migrants aboard a 45-foot cabin cruiser approximately six miles west of Point Loma, California, on April 6, 2025. At approximately 1:35 p.m., the 'Narwhal’s encountered the vessel west of San Diego and conducted a boarding. The boarding team discovered 20 migrants, among them 19 adult males, one adult female, one male minor and one female minor, all of whom claimed Mexican nationality. The Coast Guard brought the people to Ballast Point where they were transferred to Imperial Beach Border Patrol personnel.

21 migrants interdicted off Newport Beach

The 'Narwhal (WPB 87335)' interdicted 21 migrants from a 34-foot boat, one mile west of Newport Beach, on Nov 14, 2024. During an evening patrol, the crew identified a 34-foot boat operating suspiciously outside of Newport Harbor, and deployed their small boat crew and boarded the vessel at approximately 7:05 p.m. The boarding team discovered 21 migrants aboard. They were taken into custody and safely transferred to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection. Of the 21 migrants taken into custody, 18 were determined to be of Mexican nationality, two were identified as Uzbek nationality, and one of Russian nationality. All 21 migrants have been released to CBP on the morning of Nov 15.
