Patrol boat offloaded approximately 11,922 pounds of cocaine in Port Everglades

The 'Escanaba' offloaded approximately 11,922 pounds of cocaine worth an estimated $88.2 million at Port Everglades on Aug 5. The seized contraband was the result of three separate interdictions in the eastern Pacific by the crew of the 'Escanaba', the Pacific Area Tactical Law Enforcement Team, and the embarked Coast Guard Helicopter Interdiction Tactical Squadron aircrew. 132 interdicted migrants repatriated to Haiti

The 'Escanaba' repatriated 132 migrants to Haiti on Feb 10, 2025, following an interdiction approximately 50 miles southeast of Marathon. A Customs and Border Protection Air and Marine Operations aircrew based out of Jacksonville and a Coast Guard Air Station Miami HC-144 aircrew had notified Coast Guard District Seven watchstanders on Feb 4 of a 30-foot overloaded sailing vessel transiting northwest between Cuba and Cay Sal Bank. Once aboard the Coast Guard cutter, aliens are processed to determine their identity and are provided food, water, shelter, and basic medical attention before repatriation to their country of origin or return to the country of their departure. Coast Guard Cutter offloaded more than 3,400 pounds of cocaine and 4,410 pounds of marijuana

The 'Escanaba (WMEC 907)' offloaded more than 3,400 pounds of cocaine and 4,410 pounds of marijuana with a combined assessed street value of approximately $50 million in Port Everglades on Aug 23, 2024. It had embarked a Coast Guard Helicopter Interdiction Tactical Squadron aircrew, and Law Enforcement Detachment 107 from Coast Guard Tactical Law Enforcement Team Pacific. They worked alongside interagency and international partners to interdict illicit narcotics in the international waters off South America in the Eastern Pacific Ocean. Seven suspected smugglers were transferred to federal custody and face prosecution by the U.S. Department of Justice. The following assets and crews were involved in the interdictions: - Coast Guard Cutter Escanaba (WMEC 907); - Coast Guard Helicopter Interdiction Tactical Squadron (HITRON) Jacksonville; - Law Enforcement Detachment (LEDET) 107 from Coast Guard Tactical Law Enforcement Team – Pacific (PAC TACLET); - Joint Interagency Task Force South (JIATF-South); - Eleventh Coast Guard District .
