Boat with 11 migrants interdicted off La Jolla
The 'Active (WMEC-618)' interdicted a 20-foot cabin cruiser wit h11 migrants on board approximately 22 miles west of La Jolla, on June 14, 2025, At about 5 a.m. the crew monitored a vessel with no navigational lights and multiple persons on board 22 nautical miles west of La Jolla. The 'Active' launched a boarding team that was able to interdict the vessel without any use of force and found 11 persons aboard the boat, all claiming Mexican nationality. They were apprehended and transferred to the custody of the U.S. Border Patrol at Ballast Point, on the afternoon. Patrol boat rescued 16 migants
The US Coast Guard interdicted a boat with 16 migrants aboard approximately 15 miles off the coast of Mission Bay,on the morning of Feb 1. At approximately 12 a.m., U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Active notified theJoint Harbor Operations Center of a 25-foot panga-style with around 15-20 people aboard approximately one nautical mile south of their position. The 'Active' and a U.S. Customs and Border Protection Air and Marine Operations boatcrew launched boarding teams to assess. The Coast Guard boarding team discovered 16 migrants aboard the panga. Initial interviews revealed that all claimed Mexican nationality. Thex were safely transferred to U.S. Border Patrol custody.
21 migrants intercepted off Point Loma
The 'CG 'Active' and CG 'Terrell Horne' have intercepted a boat that was carrying 21 migrants on Jan 27, 2025, at around 10.45 p.m., 20 nautical miles off the coast of Point Loma. U.S. Customs and Border Patrol notified them about a 40-foot panga-style vessel headed north to the maritime boundary line and U.S. waters. The Coast Guard Cutters were diverted to the scene. Both cutters launched boarding teams and, with CBP’s assistance, successfully interdicted the vessel. All 21 people on board claimed Mexican nationality, but two were identified as Guatemalan and Salvadoran nationals. All boat people were transferred to Border Patrol custody.
