Medevac off São Miguel

A 55-year-old Portuguese crew member of the "Cabo do Mar" was medevaced 463 kilometers southeast of the coast of São Miguel Island with symptoms of severe abdominal pain and vomiting in the morning of June 21, 2021, by the MRCC Delgada jointly with the RCC Lajes and the Guidance Center for Urgent Patients (CODU-MAR). The medical evacuation was carried out by an EH-101 aircraft of the Portuguese Air Force which transported the patient to Santa Maria airport, where he landed in the night. Subsequently, a FAP C-295 aircraft transported the patient from Santa Maria to the island of São Miguel. The operation was completed at 11:25 p.m. LT. Upon arrival in São Miguel, the crew member was transferred to the Hospital do Divino Espírito Santo in Ponta Delgada for further care. Also the corvette 'António Enes' was involved in the operation. The 'Cabo Do Mar' entered the port of Ponta Delgada in the morning of June 23.
