Flat bottom boat aground off Vlieland
The "Brave Hendrik" on Oct 13, 2013, dragged anchor in Franse Gaatje and was in danger of drifting on a sandbank in winds of 8 Beaufort. The KNRM-boats "Graaf van Bylandt" and "Huibert Dijkstra" from the sttion Vlieland were called to assist at 10:46 a.m. and reached the ship's position at 10:55 a.m. The flat bottom boat was already stuck at that time. After a towing connection was established, the "Graaf van Bylandt" was able to refloat the ship and tow it to deep water through the shallows. At 11.45 a.m. both lifeboats returned to Vlieland.
