Two more ships left Chornomorsk with grain
Two more ships loaded with grain have left Ukrainian Black Sea ports as part of an agreement to unblock Ukrainian exports by sea between Russia and Ukraine. The "Sacura" (IMO: 9497000) sailed from Yuzhne on Aug 8, 2022, at 5.15 a.m., headed to Ravenna with a cargo of around 11,000 tons of soybeans with an ETA as of Aug 16.. The second vessel, the "Arizona" left the port of Chornomorsk with 48,458 tons of corn bound for Iskenderun on Aug 7 at 7.30 a.m.
Ran aground after ice and frost increased vessel’s draft
Bulk carrier Arizona ran aground on Feb 20 2012 at around 1800 Moscow time while leaving S-Petersburg port, loaded with steel destined for Houston. The reason of grounding is rather unusual – while loading steel with open hatches, the difference between water temperature and temperature in holds provoked ice grow on vessel’s bottom. Ice and frost grew up so thick that vessel’s draft changed, channel turned to be too shallow for a new draft. 4 tugs tried to refloat vessel, but failed, they only managed to drag vessel some 150 meters along the channel. Divers have to survey vessel during the day Feb 21, to work out salvage plan. Maritime Bulletin http://www.odin.tc
