Medevac off Mouille Point
A rescue craft rendezvoused with the "Otello" off Mouille Point to evacuate a crewman on board on Mar 13, 2016. The NSRI Table Bay duty crew, accompanied by a Western Cape emergency rescue service (EMS) paramedic, launched the sea rescue craft "Spirit of Vodacom" just before noon and rendezvoused with the car carrier to medevac the ship’s engineer, suffering a stroke. On arrival on the scene the patient was assessed by the EMS rescue paramedic and found to be suffering a mild stroke. The patient was transferred onto the sea rescue craft and brought to the NSRI Table Bay base and transported to hospital by EMS ambulance in a stable condition.
