Tanker boarded by intruders in Lagos
The "Aramon", moored in position 006 15 70 N, 003 12 80 E, at Lagos anchorage, was boarded by about five robbers in a small skiff who came alongside the vessel and threw two ropes attached with hooks onto the vessel's guard rails on Jan 7, 2019, at 1.10 a.m. The duty crew on routine rounds heard voices near the bow and noticed the hooks and the skiff. The alarm was raised, and non-essential crew members were mustered in the citadel. The master requested assistance from a Nigerian Navy patrol vessel which immediately responded. Hearing the alarm, the robbers fled the vessel and moved away in the skiff. The Naval patrol vessel conducted a security search in the waters around the tanker.
