Fishing vessel in distress on the Northsea
The "Ankerfisk" requested assistance on June 25, 2017, reporting water ingress in the engine room. The ship sent a mayday call sat 9.48 a.m. The disabled vessel went adrift amid strong winds with speeds up to 31 knots in the North Sea halfway between Aberdeen and Stavanger. A salvage operation was launched involving the offshore tug "REM Leader" (IMO: 9627772), a guard ship from Utsira, and the patrol boat "Sortland" (IMO: 9432646) and a Sea King rescue helicopter and other Good Samaritans. At noon additional pumps were transferred on board, and the crew radioed that the situation was so far brought under control. The water level could be kept with the dewatering pumps and the leakage was sealed at 4 p.m. so the rescue operation could be steppt down. The ship was escorted to Egersund by the "Sortland", where it arrived in the morning of June 26. She left the port of Egersund again and berthed in Hovland Port on June 28 at 3 p.m. She left Hovland Port on July 3 at 3.30 p.m. and proceeded to Hirtshals where she was docked on July 4 at 9.45 at the Hirtshals Dockyard for repairs.
