20 injured in head-on-collision at Speyer
The 'Alukard', 2540 ts (EU-No.: 02327562), on its way from Mannheim with a caroo of 2.003 tons diesel, was in a head-on-collision with the 'Thurgau Prestige', 2039 dwt (EU-No.: 07001906;), which was on its way to Frankfurt, on the Rhine at Speyer on Dec 19, 2019, at 10.15 p.m. Both ships were damaged above the waterline and managed to enter the oil port of Speyer after the accident. 20 passengers of the river cruise ship were injured and taken to hospital with bruises and fractures. The investigation into the accident was going on on Dec 20, but bad visibility by fog was thought to have contributed.
